St. Petersburg Housing Authority Receives Visit from the Housing Authority of the Birmingham District

Representatives from the Housing Authority of the Birmingham District (HABD with St. Petersburg Housing Authority (SPHA) President and CEO Michael Lundy.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The St. Petersburg Housing Authority (SPHA) recently welcomed representatives from the Housing Authority of the Birmingham District (HABD), who traveled to St. Petersburg to interview SPHA President and CEO Michael Lundy.

HABD is producing a documentary video commemorating its 90th anniversary. Mr. Lundy previously served as President and CEO of HABD from February 2016 through June 2020, where he spearheaded transformative redevelopment initiatives that reshaped the landscape of public housing in Birmingham.

During his time at HABD, Mr. Lundy led a bold campaign to redevelop large-scale housing projects. His approach focused on replacing outdated developments with smaller, mixed-income apartment communities. This strategy was designed to eliminate high concentrations of public housing and foster stronger, more integrated neighborhoods.

SPHA extends its thanks to HABD for visiting St. Petersburg and highlighting Mr. Lundy's legacy of innovation and leadership!
