PINELLAS COUNTY, FL - The St. Petersburg Housing Authority (SPHA) held the Grand Opening of "The Legacy at Jordan Park" in October 2023. The brand-new, three-story, 60-unit, senior midrise building is located in Jordan Park. The Area Agency on Aging of Pasco-Pinellas assisted 16 residents with their security deposits.

The Area Agency on Aging of Pasco-Pinellas is a non-profit organization that has been serving seniors and individuals with disabilities in our community since 1974. They serve as the Aging and Disability Resource Center for the entire two county area, providing an initial entry point for all aging and disability social services and coordinating a network of partners and providers to better meet the needs of our aging population.

"Last year, when we were completing the renovation of Jordan Park and the construction of our 60-unit complex, "The Legacy at Jordan Park," which is a beautiful, beautiful building, there were many residents who formerly lived in Jordan Park who wanted to return to Jordan Park and reside in The Legacy at Jordan Park, the senior building which is for seniors at 62 years of age and older, they found themselves in a critical housing situation and there were 16 families who didn't have security deposits, and we reached out to the Area Agency on Aging and they assisted our residents. And to this day our residents are very thankful for and have a high gratitude for the agency for that assistance," said Michael Lundy, President and CEO of the St. Petersburg Housing Authority.

"I was like, 'Wow!' I was like, 'Oh my gosh, this is beautiful.' It was awesome, awesome," said Resident Laurie.

"I just wanted to get here so fast you know because everything was like a dream coming true, so you know I'm here," said Resident BJ.

"And when we moved in everything was perfectly clean. The floors were sparkling. I even found out what they used to wax the floors. And we got along very well so really we weren't looking forward to moving anywhere else because we were quiet and peaceful," said Resident Gwendolyn.

"Our purpose is to provide affordable housing to people at 80% or below the area median income, and not only just the provision of affordable housing but to actually work with the customers that we serve and help them to pursue a track of self-sufficiency and life fulfillment," said Lundy.

"And when I got here everything was just so beautiful. I thank Mr. Lundy and his staff and our social workers and everybody that make our life so pleasant because I think that they went far beyond our expectations because we have a very, very lovely building with a whole lot of amenities," said Resident Gwendolyn.

The St. Petersburg Housing Authority is honored to have the Area Agency on Aging of Pasco-Pinellas as a valued community partner.
