ST. PETERSBURG, FL - On December 19th, 2023, the St. Petersburg Housing Authority (SPHA) held its inaugural Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) Program End-of-Year Celebration and Recognition Ceremony.

The event took place in a vibrant atmosphere as the room was filled with FSS participants who were celebrated for the hard work they have done throughout the year in the FSS program.

The FSS Program is a voluntary program available to all participants receiving HUD Section 8 Rental Assistance or living in Public Housing who wish to improve their financial situation, eliminate their dependence on public assistance, and are motivated to change their lives.

Mayoral First Lady Donna Welch graced the event with an inspiring speech, and expressed how impressed she was hearing about all of the accomplishments FSS participants had from the year in the face of much adversity.

A total of 22 participants received awards, and two were recognized with the Participant of the Year Award, which included a monetary prize.

SPHA extends our thanks to Portofino Italian Ristorante and Domino's Pizza for providing a delicious dinner.

Congratulations to all our FSS participants! SPHA is so proud of the work you are doing!
