Capital Improvements
Each year, the St. Petersburg Housing Authority (SPHA) receives grant funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to make interior and exterior capital improvements to its public housing properties.
In 2009, SPHA was grateful to receive $1.3 million in additional capital improvement funding as a result of President Obama’s American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). Click here for more information.
In 2010, SPHA was awarded a grant of approximately $1 million by HUD, under its Capital Fund program, to develop, modernize and better manage its public housing units.
The housing authority received an additional $659,752.00 in capital funds in 2011. Also, in March 2011, HUD named SPHA as a "Capitol Fund High Performer."
