Executive Director's Message
On behalf of the Board of Commissioners and staff, let me welcome you to the St. Petersburg Housing Authority (SPHA), one of the nation’s finest housing agencies. We’re glad that you chose to visit our Web site. I hope you will find our site informative and educational.
Consistently scored as a “High Performer” on U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) assessments, SPHA provides housing assistance to more than 3,400 families residing in the city of St. Petersburg. The housing authority operates a number of programs, all designed to improve the living conditions and social conditions of our residents. We also serve as a catalyst for revitalizing economically distressed neighborhoods and uplifting the spirit of hope for those living in these underserved communities.
We are an autonomous, quasi-municipal entity that is a political subdivision of the State of Florida. The bulk of our revenues is generated from federal subsidies and grants, along with tenant rents. Through inter-local agreements, we participate in an Economies of Scale (EOS) initiative with the Clearwater Housing Authority, the Dunedin Housing Authority, and the Pinellas County Housing Authority. Working within our EOS programs, we are saving dollars and serving as many people as possible with the limited resources we have. I invite you to learn more about our EOS initiative.
