SPHA Helps Formerly Homeless Veteran, Family Celebrate the Holidays
The St. Petersburg Housing Authority’s (SPHA) Adopt-A-Family program is making the holidays a little brighter for resident Gerald White and his family. SPHA provided wrapped Christmas gifts on December 23 to Mr. White and his five children, who range in age from eight to seventeen years. The presents, which included several toys and an outfit for each child, were purchased solely with personal donations from SPHA staff. Click here to read more.
Johnson Joins DHA Board of Commissioners
Ms. Stephanie Johnson was sworn in as the newest member of the Dunedin Housing Authority’s (DHA) Board of Commissioners at its November 15 regular board meeting. Filling the vacant Tenant Commissioner seat, Commissioner Johnson was appointed to the board by Dunedin Mayor Dave Eggers and was confirmed by the City Commission in October 2011. Open House at DHA’s Fairway Gardens Apartments
With many people under-employed and struggling to afford a place to live in the current economy, the Dunedin Housing Authority (DHA) has created an affordable housing option, without relying on federal subsidy, for those in need of a quality, sustainable rental apartment. As part of DHA’s affordable housing program, Fairway Gardens Apartments, 30 and 110 Lady Mary Drive North in Clearwater, offers recently renovated one- and two-bedroom units at below-market monthly rents to qualified residents. Taylor Joins SPHA Board of Commissioners
Ms. Ann Taylor was sworn in as the newest St. Petersburg Housing Authority (SPHA) commissioner at the authority’s September 22 regular board meeting. Commissioner Taylor was appointed to the board by St. Petersburg Mayor Bill Foster and confirmed by City Council in July 2011. Click here to read more.
Free Educational Program Introduced at Jordan Park
SPHA, Landex Management, and Quantum Leap Educational Services, L.L.C. have partnered to provide a free educational program, called the SUCCESS program, for school-aged children living in local public housing developments. Click here to read more.
Local Church Partners with SPHA to "Paint the Saint"
On Saturday, September 17, 2011, community volunteers will be repainting the exteriors of three single family homes in St. Petersburg, at no cost to the homeowners, as part of the “2011 Paint the Saint” service project. The Northwest Church of Christ (NWCOC) is organizing this painting effort, with assistance from SPHA. Click here to read more.

Nesbitt Joins SPHA Board of Commissioners,
Lettelleir Elected as Chairman
Mr. Ashon Nesbitt was sworn in as the newest member of the SPHA Board of Commissioners at its August 25 meeting, and Mr. Joseph Lettelleir was elected as the new board chairman. SPHA Announces Zero Findings for 2010 Audit
SPHA is proud to announce that independent external auditors have reported zero findings for the agency’s fiscal year 2010 audit. This marks the fourth consecutive year that an audit of the housing authority has concluded with zero findings. Click here to read more.
Public Housing Program Earns High Performer Designation Again
