The St. Petersburg Housing Authority provides low-rent housing through its Housing Choice Vouchers and Public Housing Programs. Home ownership is also available through the Affordable Home Ownership Program.

 for its public housing waiting list starting January 10th, 2007 for 1-4 bedroom apartments and

for all income levels fitting the area median income limits

Rents are based on 30% of monthly income!

All applicants must qualify, based on HUD & The St. Petersburg Housing Authority policies and guidelines.

Affordable Housing

PCHA and SPHA’s Affordable Housing program offers market rate-comparable units to income eligible families at below market rents. Our affordable housing properties serve families from 0-150% of the Area Median Income. Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers (HVC) are also accepted. Please click on the Section 8 icon to read more about the HCV program. SPHA recently purchased its first Affordable Housing property, Saratoga Apartments. Applicants may apply by calling 733-8880.

Saratoga Apartments is an affordable family development, consisting of 34 one and two bedroom units in two 2-story residential apartment buildings. Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers are welcome. Saratoga serves families earning 80% or less of the Area Median Income based on family size. Affordable rents start at $625 for a one-bedroom unit and $750 for a two-bedroom apartment, containing 945 SF of living space. Home Ownership

Hope VI Homeownership Program

This SPHA program provided home ownership opportunities to 115 families for existing and new construction units, all in the city of St. Petersburg. This program was a cooperative effort between the SPHA, St. Petersburg Neighborhood Housing Services, the City of St. Petersburg, and the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

The HOPE VI Homeownership Plan helped first time homebuyers achieve homeownership. St. Petersburg Neighborhood Housing Services (SPNHS) along with Mt. Zion Human Services, Inc. was themaster developer to build forty (40) new single-family units in the Wildwood Heights & Melrose-Mercy Neighborhoods. More importantly, the City of St. Petersburg Housing & Community Development Department helped all participants in this program with down payment assistance. In addition, the agencies provided homeownership opportunities for  families for existing units within the city limits of St. Petersburg. The forty (40) new constructed units featured 3-4 bedrooms, one and a half baths, with one car garage. Floor plans for the homes were determined by SPNHS and St. Petersburg Housing Authority (SPHA).

Qualifications for the program are listed below:

All participants must be a first time homeowner.

All participants must go through credit counseling provided by SPNHS or Tampa Bay Community Development Corporation.

bullet

All new constructed units must be in the Wildwood Heights & Melrose-Mercy Neighborhoods or lots owned by SPNHS.

bullet

All existing homes must be purchased within the city limits of St. Petersburg.

bullet

All participants must be in the 50%-80% Area Median Income (AMI).

bullet

All participants must not have any felony convictions in the past seven (7) years.
