Information for Affordable Housing Residents
Change to the Smoking Policy
Effective June 1, 2013, all SPHA complexes, including Saratoga Apartments, will be Smoke Free. Please download the flyer below for more details.
Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity (FHEO)
SPHA believes that all people should have equal access to the housing of their choice and conducts our business in accordance with the Federal Fair Housing law. For more information about fair housing and your rights, please visit the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Fair Housing / Equal Opportunity website at www.hud.gov/fairhousing.
Hurricane and Other Disaster Preparedness
With the start of this year’s hurricane season on June 1, SPHA is encouraging our residents to prepare for potential emergency situations. While events like hurricanes, floods and fires are frightening to consider, having a disaster plan in place can help families react more calmly to the unexpected and can reduce the loss of life and damage to property in the event of an emergency.
Risk Control Policy
The safety and well-being of SPHA residents, guests and employees is very important. SPHA’s safety programs are designed to abide by all applicable laws and regulations. Our risk management procedures have been established to promote and ensure the highest level of safety. Copies of emergency preparedness plans, self inspection programs, and preventive maintenance programs are located at all Property Management and Human Resources Offices. Please report all unsafe conditions to SPHA Property Managers, the Human Resources Officer, or Safety Committee members.
Investment in Future Affordable Housing
Using the proceeds from the sale of the Graham/Rogall buildings, SPHA plans to acquire or develop
more public and affordable housing properties throughout our
jurisdictional area, which encompasses the city of St.
Petersburg and a 10-mile radius outside
of the city. SPHA's goals are to provide a wider variety of housing options for low-income families, to reduce the concentration of poverty in some areas of the city per HUD regulations, to encourage residents’ access to jobs, and to encourage residents to pursue education.
Please check this page regularly for updated information about SPHA's affordable housing properties.
