Mission

"It is the mission of the housing authority to provide a variety of safe, sanitary, accessible, decent and affordable housing to eligible citizens of the City of St. Petersburg, while enhancing and promoting resident self-sufficiency."

About Us

The St. Petersburg Housing Authority (SPHA) is a public body corporate that has a 70 year history of developing and administering affordable housing programs in the City of St. Petersburg.

SPHA administers or operates six affordable housing communities and approximately 3,000 Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers for the residents of St. Petersburg.

A governing body of seven Commissioners develops the policies and goals of the Authority. This Board is appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council of the City of St. Petersburg.

SPHA staff is committed to high levels of excellence and is committed to meeting the affordable housing needs of City of St. Petersburg residents.

Awards and Recognition

The National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO) has recognized the SPHA with several national agency awards of merit for initiatives such as the Economies of Scale program, the Jordan Park HOPE VI redevelopment program, the Section 3 program, and its Fraud Recovery program. The authority is proud of its consistent scores as a “High Performing” agency on U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) assessments.
