SPHA to be featured on WRXB 1590 AM radio
ST. PETERSBURG, FLORIDA – Beginning on Wednesday, April 14, the St. Petersburg Housing Authority (SPHA) will be featured on WRXB 1590 AM radio from 10:05 a.m. to 10:20 a.m. on the second Wednesday of each month through September. During these fifteen minute radio segments, SPHA officials will discuss affordable housing issues of local and national interest.
“Through our relationship with WRXB radio, we are able to reach out directly to the community we serve as we discuss the housing authority’s mission and operations, our plans to acquire affordable housing stock in St. Petersburg, and the challenges and perceptions we must confront in the near term and over the long haul. We invite you to tune in,” said Darrell Irions, SPHA's chief executive officer.
Potential topics of discussion include the redevelopment of blighted areas, expanding housing choice in non-traditional neighborhoods, the Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8 ) program, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) funds, and changes to federal housing programs on the horizon.
