SPHA Residents Encouraged to Participate in Census
ST. PETERSBURG, FLORIDA – This year marks the national census effort, and every residence in the United States will be mailed a brief 2010 Census questionnaire. The data collected will help shape the future of this community by determining funding for housing programs, schools, job training centers, hospitals, child-care and senior citizen centers, and much more.
The St. Petersburg Housing Authority (SPHA) encourages its residents to complete their census questionnaires as soon as they are received. In order to assist residents, a Questionnaire Assistance Center, staffed by a census employee, will be located in the Rogall building at 300 10th Street South in St. Petersburg. Beginning on March 19, the center will be open to the public from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday. The center will close on April 19.
SPHA Chief Executive Officer Darrell Irions said, “By hosting a Questionnaire Assistance Center, we are able to help both our residents and the general public complete their census questionnaires. With each questionnaire submitted, we are making sure that our community receives the resources it requires.”
Also, there is an opportunity for interested SPHA residents to work at the Questionnaire Assistance Center. For more information about this position, please contact the U.S. Census Bureau at 1-866-861-2010 or view their Web site at www.2010censusjobs.gov.
