Joseph Lettelleir Joins SPHA Board of Commissioners
ST. PETERSBURG, FLORIDA – Joseph Lettelleir was sworn in as the newest St. Petersburg Housing Authority (SPHA) commissioner at the authority’s August 27 regular board meeting. Lettelleir was appointed to the board by St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Baker.
“I am honored to serve our community as part of this board, and I am looking forward to working with the rest of the commission to develop more affordable housing opportunities in the city of St. Petersburg,” Lettelleir says.
Dr. Arnett Smith, SPHA board chairman, says, “We are very pleased to have Commissioner Lettelleir on board. He will be an asset to the SPHA and the families we serve.”
Lettelleir is the president of JTL Realty, Inc. in St. Petersburg. Having worked in the real estate industry since the 1970’s, his experience encompasses marketing, property management, sales and development for the private sector, the financial industry and governmental agencies. As a proponent for affordable housing in St. Petersburg, Lettelleir has served as president of the St. Petersburg Area Chamber of Commerce; chairman of the St. Petersburg Planning Commission; member of Governor’s Council on State Housing Goals; and president of the Community Development and Reinvestment Corporation.
The seven-member SPHA Board of Commissioners is responsible for oversight and policy-making for the housing authority. The mayor appoints SPHA board members, subject to confirmation by the St. Petersburg City Council. Board members are unpaid volunteers, who serve four-year terms.
SPHA board meetings are open to the public and are held at 2:00 p.m. on the fourth Thursday of the month, except in July and December. The next regular meeting of the SPHA Board of Commissioners will take place on Thursday, September 24, at the St. Petersburg Neighborhood Housing Services, 1600 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street South in St. Petersburg.
